Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for the James Gunn produced superhero horror movie Brightburn.
BrightBurn is an original horror project in the vein of Gunn’s scripts for The Belko Experiment and Slither (which he also directed), rather than a secret video game adaptation. The film itself was directed by David Yarovesky, who made his feature debut in 2015 with the sci-fi horror-thriller The Hive. He and Gunn have already worked together on multiple occasions, including the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 “Inferno” music video. Yarovesky also played a “Goth Ravager” in the first Guardians of the Galaxy, and was a post-production consultant on The Belko Experiment.
This Reign of the Supermen movie serves as the sequel to the Death of Superman animated feature that was released last year. That film refitted the classic “Death of Superman” storyline from ’90s DC Comics into a story set in serialized continuity of the DC Universe animated films.

Superman is dead. And now, four mysterious beings appear—all with powers and abilities like the Man of Steel’s! One claims he is a clone of Superman.
The Man of Steel meets his ultimate match when Doomsday comes to Earth – hell bent on destroying everything and everyone in his path, including the Justice League – in the all-new, action-packed The Death of Superman, part of the popular series of DC Universe Movies.
The Death of Superman animated movie is coming later this year, and this time, DC promises that it will “include many of the fan-favorite moments from the story that were left out of Doomsday.” That’s only the beginning, though.
