The time is UC 1926. The Imperial Army’s 203rd Air Mage Battalion led by Major Tanya Degurechaff has won the battle to the south against the Republic’s stragglers. They expected to be given a vacation after returning victorious, but instead receive special orders from Staff HQ as soon as they get home. They are told that there were signs of a large-scale deployment near the Empire-Federation border. Faced with the prospect of a new major enemy, the desperate Empire fans the flame of war. Meanwhile, an international volunteer army spearheaded by the Commonwealth set foot in Federation territory. As they say, the enemy of an enemy is your friend. They suffer through misfortune purely out of national interest, and among them is a young girl. She is Warrant Officer Mary Sue, and she takes up arms hoping to bring the Empire, who killed her father, to justice. This exclusive one-night event will feature premiere footage of an interview with Director Yutaka Uemura.

Makoto Shinkai and CoMix Wave Films announced their newest full-length feature anime movie, Tenki no Ko: Weathering With You (Weather Child: Weathering With You). The film is slated to open in Japan on July 19, 2019. The film is slated to release worldwide with releases already planned for North America, Europe, Asia, and South America. The story is described as being about a boy named Hodaka who decides to move to Tokyo after leaving his home on an island. Once in Tokyo, Hodaka finds himself short on money. Hodaka eventually finds a job as a writer for a disreputable occult magazine; however, is the occult really that far-fetched? On one particularly rainy day, he meets a girl named Hina on a crowded city street. Hina is no ordinary girl, though. She has the power to stop the rain and clear the sky. Since this is a story written by Makoto Shinkai, I would expect a lot of symbolism through the rain. Also, it will be a travesty if there isn’t a single train or railroad track anywhere in this film!
Writer & Director: Makoto Shinkai Character Designer: Masayoshi Tanaka (your name., AnoHana) Animation Director: Atsushi Tamura (Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin) Art Director: Hiroshi Takiguchi (The Garden of Words) Producer: STORY, Inc. Distributor: TOHO Developing Studio: CoMix Wave Films.
The second season will premiere in Japan and North America on April 9, 2019. If you’re in North America, you’ll be able to watch the subtitled version via Hulu with no word on when fans can expect a dubbed production.

In fact, he’s too strong—even his mightiest opponents are taken out with a single punch. Now, the great seer Madame Shibabawa’s prediction about the Earth being doomed seems to be coming true as the frequency of monster incidents escalates. Alongside Genos, his faithful disciple, Saitama begins his official hero duties as a member of the Hero Association, while Garou, a man utterly fascinated by monsters, makes his appearance.”
Ultraman’s next generation is here and its larger than life! Years ago, the famous giant of light Ultraman worked to protect peace on Earth. Now, a new champion arises: Shinjiro Hayata, a high-school student who must don the Ultra Suit and the worries that come with it. The son of the former Ultraman, he will become this generation’s new hero! Netflix Original Anime Ultraman starts streaming worldwide April 1st, only on Netflix.
The new Ultraman is directed by Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki, who had both previously directed different incarnations of the Ghost in the Shell animated series, so that should be of interest to everyone who liked those shows.
The series is being worked on Production I.G. (Star Blazers 2199) in association with Sola Digital Arts (Starship Troopers: Traitor of Mars). Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell: SAC) and Shinji Aramaki (Appleseed Alpha) will direct.
Judging from the footage released so far, this new anime is very different from the usual Ultraman fare. After 50 years, the Ultraman franchise should feel free to mix things up a bit.
