Masters of the Universe: Revelation, an animated Netflix show is coming

Masters of the Universe: Revelation, an animated Netflix show from Kevin Smith

Smith will serve as the executive producer and showrunner of Masters of the Universe: Revelation, a limited series which focuses on the unresolved storylines of the classic series, picking up many of the characters’ journeys where they left off decades ago.

Mattel Television is producing alongside executive producer Rob David, the vice president of Mattel TV and author of “He-Man: the Eternity War.” Writers include Eric Carrasco (“Supergirl”), Tim Sheridan (“Reign of the Supermen”), Diya Mishra (“Magic the Gathering”) and Marc Bernardin (“Alphas”). “Castlevania’s” Powerhouse Animation will oversee animation for the series.

“’Masters of the Universe’ has been a cultural phenomenon for generations, inspiring fans to discover their own power within,” David said. “Fans of this franchise have been waiting for the continuation of these characters, and Kevin Smith, as a ‘Masters’ superfan himself, is the perfect champion and partner to expand the canon through a dynamic animated series on Netflix.”

Watch Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal, SDCC Exclusive Clip

The half-hour animated series is set in the prehistoric time and centers around a “caveman at the dawn of evolution” and a “dinosaur on the brink of extinction.” The two characters are bonded by tragedy, and “this unlikely friendship becomes the only hope of survival in a violent, primordial world.”

The Harley Quinn cartoon trailer at SDCC

Harley Quinn series, starring The Big Bang Theory’s Kaley Cuoco as the madcap Ms. Quinn. While the moments may be brief, they’re enough to give us a sense that this Harley doesn’t take orders from anyone – even if their nickname is “puddin.”

The series will air as a part of Warner Bros’ upcoming DC Comics-branded direct-to-consumer digital platform, which has ordered 26 episodes for a half-hour animated action-comedy series simply titled Harley Quinn. The image above is a piece of development art for the series, which leads us to expect a Harley look in line with her current comic book incarnation.

In this new series, Harley Quinn will have finally broken things off for good with her abusive boyfriend the Joker, and will attempt to make it on her own as the criminal Queenpin of Gotham City. Joining Harley will be her BFF Poison Ivy, as well as a whole cast of DC Universe heroes and villains both old and new. Although this has not been confirmed either way, I would expect Batman to show up on at least a semi-regular basis.

Batman Beyond the complete series remastered is coming to blu-ray

Just announced at the show’s 20th Anniversary celebration panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Warner Bros. will officially release the complete Batman Beyondseries, as well as the movie Return of the Joker, for the first time on Blu-Ray this October.

The limited edition set, which will cost $100, includes all 52 episodes of the future-set continuation/spinoff of the legendary Batman: The Animated Series, which itself received the high-definition Blu-Ray treatment for the first time last year, as well as the aforementioned Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, across four discs, alongside 15 bonus featurettes. Also included in the packaging is a special chrome-plated Funko Pop figurine of Terry McGinnis as Batman, as well as four lenticular art cards designed for this new set.
